new beginnings

the smell of fall is in the air. it's the changing of seasons, so why not a change in routine.

After I graduated college I didn't see any point in furthering my eduction. Neither a masters nor a PhD would really do anything for me, professionally...unless I decided to become a teacher. I didn't forsee wanting to teach at the college level ever, so I pushed the idea to the back of my mind. Slowly, from time-to-time the thought of more education crept into my mind. I still didn't pay much attention. I'm very happy working at my job and where I'm at in life. My intermittent education thoughts centered around furthering my career, mostly, how valuable web-knowledge could be to me.

I've finally decided to dip my toe into the well of knowledge. I've enrolled in one class at a local college for Multi-Media Design. I'll be learning about animation, which will come in handy at some point in the future. I'm going to try one class and see how it goes, hopefully building on that.

The decision to go "back to school" (and I use the term loosely, especially since I'm only taking one class) was a tough one. not only is it a huge time commitment (more so when i was thinking at least 2 classes), but it's also expensive. Particularly with the wavering economy, committing financially to too much right now seems like a risky decision. So, after some noodeling and plotting, perhaps a little scheming, I'm ready to take one class.

I start next week. Wish me luck. I'm half enticed to go out and buy a first-day-of-school new outfit, but I probably wont. Class is one day a week, for (gulp) 5.5 hours. That's a long class! I really hope I like my prof and my class-mates. (Sorry, I know this post is sub-par.) That's my update, my exciting new news. I hope I remember how to be a decent student!

SUPER EXCITING! Is it more appropriate to say break a keystroke on your first day of class? :) Anyways, good luck!!
